Capalbio

Capalbio is a medieval hamlet and arises on a hill, about 217 meters above sea level. It is 10 kilometres far from the sea and it is surrounded by the country. Walking across its little squares, along its alleys or its walkway above the city walls, where you will enjoy an breathtaking panorama, you will feel like travelling in the past.
The crenelated tower of the castle built by Aldobrandeschi family dates back to XIII century: it is open to public and it is possible to see a precious fortepiano built by Conrad Graf (born in Riedlingen, Germany, 1782). Thanks to the serial number, it is possible to date it back to the first months of 1823. It was played by Giacomo Puccini, as he used to come in Maremma for boar hunt; this kind of hunt it is a very common custom still nowadays.

In Capalbio, known also as “little Athene”, is possible to meet famous people working in the show business (such as journalists, editors, politicians, academics, etc.): as the town is so peaceful, it has been selected by many people to be the perfect holiday spot.
